About us…
Welcome to Bistrot Max!
We have been in the business of all things food & drink for over 20 years but always based in a pub environment.
We started at The Red Lion in Hollington in 2000, and after seven years we decided to take over The Saracens Head in Shirley. We ran both side by side for two years, and then decided to focus our efforts in our favourite, The Saracens Head, and left The Red Lion. It was definitely the right choice as we stayed at the Saracens Head for sixteen years until January 2022! We built up such an amazing loyal customer base who stayed dining with us for years, employed some wonderful people who became a huge part of our lives over the years, some of who you will be seeing at Bistrot Max.
We won Derbyshire’s best “out of town” food pub and were listed in the Michelin guide for many years.
